Yes, 2010 is here.  There are no flying cars, at least not where I live, and I am not disappointed.  I have fully accepted that for at least today- there are no flying cars- and that’s ok.

This is the mindset I would like to cultivate in this new year.  I will live more in the moment, instead of waiting for the next one… I believe this will remove that ever present anxiety of “whats going to happen next?” .  Someone close to me said, quoting someone else- “luck favors the prepared”  I will be more prepared this year.   I will focus on my future goals and aspirations by making each day productive and meaningful.  Daily goals will ultimately fulfill long-term goals.

These last few months have been busy and crazy for me.  I’ve started to focus more on Boudoir photos, and am learning Photoshop CS2.  I also enrolled in Graduate School to pursue a dual degree in Project Managment and Distance Learning.  So take a look at what I’ve been up to, and stay posted to see whats next!

I am excited to move into the future, walking leasiruly, enjoying each rose and thorn, with my camera at my side.

All the best,

Michele

Perhaps you have been wondering what we have been up to!?!  Well… the business of life sometimes gets in the way, as I’m sure you- Dear Reader- have experienced also!  But, here is my lastest photography venture… A local Mary Kay unit is offering Glam Shots to their clients, along with facials and a make-up tutorial all with the fantastic products of Mary Kay!  As you see I am the lucky photographer to take the images of the ladies after they are all sassed up!  It’s also nice to be involved with such a positve and motivated group of women on a monthly basis to keep me focused on my personal goals too!  I am looking forward to meeting more great folks as the weeks go on! ~ Michele

Portraits…

July 20, 2009

web-2web-4web-5web-6family-fb-1Portraits are funny things.  We all know exactly what we look like, but when we see an image of ourselves; it usually does not acurately reflect how we see ourselves.  But it does.  We humans are complex, not just one thing makes up who we are.  It’s all those things swirling behind our faces that makes getting an image that looks like you feel you look, so hard.   However, it can be done, you can get images that truely reflect your inner beauty, and spirit.  The right photographer can bring that out.  A good portait evokes a feeling in the viewer.  I believe these potraits do that.

This was a great shoot!  She had the baby a week afterward… a healthy baby boy!shanika-web-01shanika-web-06shanika-web-08shanika-web-03

Summer fun…

June 9, 2009

Summer in Baltimore… we have all been waiting for the warm air and sun to frolick in, and none of us more than the children.  Here is my daughter reveling in the afternoon sun.  Catching those fleeting moments of bliss is what I love most… the sun in her hair, laughing and jumping… I remember those days when the summer felt like a whole year.  Staying outside all day, chasing lighting bugs at night…exhausted but restful sleep and always excited about the next day of summer.

Photography lets you create what your mind sees and not just your eyes.  I took these images of a dog, a bottle, a street and a friend to share how I see things.

The fire hydrant on this lonely street is so orange against the green trees.  I have driven past it a million times and always thought it was oddly beautiful.  I saturated the image and reduced the clarity to give it a surreal look.  The dog, Fu Man Chu, was very agitated by the flash, but I got this image at his level and you can see the curiosity and irritation in his eyes… a mean doggie portrait.  Smoke is always a beautiful image… it becomes a solid thing when captured.  The bottle is green and the sunlight was so bright through it, and with the  blurred image behind it, it makes me wonder what is behind and around the bottle.  This shot is my favorite.  I like green a lot too.
